Service Oriented Loss Given Default Integration .

Managing LGD models, data and processes for non-retail credit facilities, along with providing executives with timely and accurate data for oversight poses challenges for lending institutions of any size.

  • LGD models interoperate with many data sources and workflows.
  • This makes LGD implementations “brittle”, as models/applications must be updated, re-tested, and re-deployed when data formats or application workflows are changed.
  • LGD model changes often require regulatory approval that must be supported by documentation and data that is costly to produce and manage.
  • When recovering assets upon default, LGD-related data is often missing or out-of-date.

Traditional approaches to supporting LGD leave most commercial lenders facing one of two options; (a) either invest heavily in personnel, consulting, software and on-going operations expenses to build a bespoke LGD management system (while often sophisticated, these are rarely very agile), or (b) operate the lending business without robust LGD management and risk both limiting the lender’s ability to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving marketplace, and increasing the lender’s required liquidity reserves. Lack of automation will also result in significant regulatory compliance workloads.

RFM's service oriented approach has changed the game in LGD management

  • Full LGD model lifecycle version and access control, with in-built visual authoring, change tracking, regulatory document automation, versioning and management.
  • Extraordinary agility, with LGD models published as a service that can be consumed by enterprise systems that interact with LGD. This eliminates the need to re-deploy applications when LGD models, or their inputs and outputs, change.
  • A “risk cockpit” dashboard, where risk management executives can view and interact with near-real-time information about the risk profile of any portfolio.
  • Minimally disruptive, rapid deployment. RFM’s modular technology interoperates with existing systems, including:
    • Dynamic, model-driven binding to all common data providers
    • Exposes services (REST/SOAP) for other enterprise systems to consume
    • Integrates with existing authentication/authorization/access control protocols
    • RFM’s unique Model Injection™ technology automatically propagates LGD model changes to affected user interfaces and workflows on approval, with no re-programming required.
